I unfortunately have soon ran out of time with this module without concluding Part D . I have confronted the rest of my development plan but by now i was hoping to have a stern idea as to weather my near by future lye's in further education of work. However i still have time to do this outside this brief which i fully intend to do . I should presume that the next few months will be spend developing parts D and possibly F when i get a clearer idea at what I'm attempting to do.
Going back o my first pdp right at the beginning of the project i realize now that looking at photographers and reading photography theory is something that i will always do because not only does it improve my practice 10 fold but it is also interesting and inspirational .
Even though university is now over i fully intend to keep on developing in my field of photography whether that be on the job or in further education .

Looking at self promotion via facebook - Part F
Well my original intentions for this part of my short term employment and self promotion was to create a Sally Jenkins Photography website to start my work circulating . I understand Facebook is a great tool in free advertising and I know a lot of people who have successfully gained paid work from another Facebook client . With photography I think this is a hard one ! One we all know the rule that if any image is uploaded to the majority of social media sites the rights and copyrights of the images then belongs to the site but there are other reasons the more I think about it the gradually more hesitant I am to create a professional profile . I Have been looking into the pros and cons of adding images to Facebook and also face book for small businesses . I have included a selection of links below that reiterate the fact that at this moment in my career I should not be publishing my work on a social media platform .
http://www.aphotoeditor.com/2011/02/14/recent-facebook-changes-are-bad-for-professional-photographers/
http://www.convinceandconvert.com/social-media-tools/14-ways-new-facebook-betrays-small-business/
http://digital-photography-school.com/what-every-photographer-needs-to-know-about-facebook/
My images are currently art and theory based because of university so its audience isn't really Facebook . Also I would like time to build a stronger page of images rather than looking to ammeter . Plus I have nothing to sell as it stands, if you look at the other photographers that have pages on Facebook they generally have a market audience in mind . for example weddings , family portraits and new borns all seem to be the most popular .This is not the style of photography I aspire to do therefore at this stage I do think it is necessary I have a Facebook page .

Portfolio part- Part F
For part F of my personal development plan I am trying to prepare my self with short term solutions that will help me in to the working work . As you can see previously I have updated my cv So they can be sent off on request and now its time to create myself a short but strong portfolio , not only show casing my work but also showing my possible employer my personality and style.
I attended the portfolio review session that was held earlier this year , I hadn't to date had a portfolio so I really just went for advise and to view other peoples progress in this field . I came away with some powerful information that have no doubt shaped the result of my portfolio below . We talked through many different ways in which to present portfolios , in the traditional print format contained in a smart folder , we talked about portfolio boxes and other methods of presenting our word but the most practical to me is the possibility of a digital portfolio. It makes perfect sense in the fact that all my work is already digitalised and a lot of the photography jobs I have been looking at are a distance away so instead of physically dropping of a portfolio it would be handy to be able to email one .
I have also had the idea to whilst emailing your cv and application if you could give them a portfolio taster , 5 strong images to give them a taste of what you can offer . Obviously your Cv it will have full portfolio on request in which you can trailer to what you think they are after . The five images "mini portfolio" has to show a variety of work yet , style, substance and personality .
Here are the 5 images I would send off along with my application form and CV as a mini portfolio so that the employer could get clear visual of what my photography is like .

Karen Knorr - Word and Image
About GentlemenKaren Knorr
Dimensions and Editions
The photographic works Gentlemen (1981-1983) photographed in English gentlemen’s clubs in Saint James’ in central London consider the patriarchal values of the English upper middle classes with text constructed out of speeches of parliament and news. A series of 26 images and texts investigate the values that ally these classes to conservative aristocratic values where primogeniture is still an issue. Until the early 1970’s a married women still needed her husband’s endorsement for any household purchases. Whilst women now have full property rights, they still remain under-represented in key positions of governance and in financial and academic worlds. It is still a boys club in which some women are honorary members.
I wanted to make work that used humour to explore attitudes prevalent amongst the English establishment in the 1980’s. Despite being Prime Minister and head of the Conservative party, Margaret Thatcher as a woman was not allowed full membership at the Conservative Gentlemen’s club ‘The Carlton'. Old Etonians, like the present leader of the opposition David Cameron, still belong to such Gentlemen’s clubs. It is in these clubs that behind the scene influence is still used to influence politics and business.

Jo spence - beyond the family album
'My entire life seems to have been founded on conflict. Both within my family and through wider social contexts, it felt as if there were a continual war going on just beneath the surface, threatening to break out if certain rituals were not observed.'
In collaboration with Terry Dennett, Belfast Exposed Photography exhibited Jo Spence's seminal work on domestic photography, Beyond the Family Album, and other work on representations of family relations.
Spence described Beyond the Family Album as a work-in-progress aiming 'to better understand how, through visual forms of representation, our subjective views of selves, and others, are structured and held across the institutions of media, and through hierarchical social relationships.'
Spence identified popular photography as the complex site of ideological negotiation between family, class, gender and social life. She emphasised the need for a 'counter-photography' of the family, one that breaks with the strict conventions of popular photography, to portray a more realistic representation of family life. She critiqued how most family photography is reduced to a limited set of typifying narratives and how much of what constitutes family life remains undocumented. She advocated collaboration between participants, willing to engage with questions of sexuality and family relations.

Jon Crispin
When Willard Asylum for the Chronic Insane in New York state closed in 1995, hundreds of suitcases from past residents were found, some dating back to the early 20th century. Inside the suitcases were all manner of things from sewing and shaving kits to photographs and letters, many never posted. Long drawn to the ghostly atmosphere of abandoned psychiatric institutions, photographer Jon Crispin has been documenting the suitcases, which are now held in the collection of the New York State Museum.

Exciting future ahead after digital agency acquisition
A new chapter has begun in the future of creative digital marketing agency Fat Media following its acquisition by Cumbria-based entrepreneur David Durnford.
As part of the deal Kendal-based digital agency, Motive Technology, also owned by David, is set to be rebranded as Fat Media in an exciting move which will see the two successful companies joining forces to form one of the largest digital marketing agencies in the North of England.
The Lancaster agency, which has further offices in Barrow and London, currently employs 68 specialists across an array of digital, marketing and technical disciplines. It will now expand to employ over 90 following the acquisition.
The acquisition marks an exciting time for the agency, who earlier this month also picked up a Highly Commended award in the Large Digital Agency category at the coveted Prolific North Awards, held in Manchester.
Fat Media work with a host of iconic local brands including Cumbrian giants Lakeland and Gilkes as well as national and international clients in the shape of Servisair, Glaxo SmithKline, Warburtons and Mitsubishi.
Motive Technology also have an impressive client portfolio, with Macdonald Hotels, Jessops, The Stobart Group and Yotel amongst their most recent work.
Plans for the next 12 months include the creation of up to 30 new jobs as the company takes steps to become one of the UK’s leading independent digital marketing agencies. The acquisition comes after an incredible nine years for Fat Media, which has seen them grow though the ambitions of five Directors into a multi award winning agency; employing some of the most talented creative and technical experts in the North West. As part of the deal all five founders will stay with Fat Media to keep driving the business forward.
Mike Gibson, Managing Director at Fat Media is delighted to announce the news, he said:
"We’re immensely proud of the phenomenal growth story of Fat Media over the past nine years. Our aim was to continue this growth long into the future and to do that we needed the external investment and experience to take us to the next level. After huge interest it was an easy decision to work with David. His track record is second to none and it is going to be a pleasure working with him to take Fat Media forward”.
The acquisition was done through David Durnford’s company Netfonics Holdings, which was set up after he sold leading cable operator Smallworld to Virgin Media. David commented on the exciting move:
"I’m delighted to become involved with Fat Media. It’s a business I’ve known of for many years and have watched and admired it progress to become one of the leading digital agencies in the North West. I’m really looking forward to working with all the team here as we look to expand and become one of the top digital agencies in the country.”

Masters in and around London - Part D
Whilst further expanding my search for post graduate education I have noticed that huge bulk of the most exciting MAs are around the London area or even further down south .If I was to find the perfect course then I would consider moving that far but as it stands at the moment I would have to take a year out anyway to save money , a for the course and B for the move down there.

MA in Photography & Urban Cultures
This programme has been developed by the Centre for Urban and Community Research in response to the increasing interest in urban theory and the visual representation of urban cultures and places.
It is designed to encourage creative interplay between practice and theory; you will have the chance to consider cutting-edge debates in cultural and social theory in a research setting that actively encourages the development of photographic practice.
The programme offers working photographers, visual artists and media practitioners space to reflect critically on their practice.
It also offers those with a background in sociology, urban and cultural geography, cultural studies or anthropology the opportunity to combine visual forms of representation with standard forms of research techniques in investigating urban life and the physical environments of the city.

I have found another postgraduate degree that isn't an MA or PGCE . A PHD is a reaserch based course rather than a Masters whichis traditionally taught .
Photography MA
- As a student on Brighton's MA Photography course you can expect a creative and critical environment in which to practise and think about photography. The fine art-focused approach to photographic practice at Brighton allows you to benefit from the course's close relationship with work in moving image and sound, developing your own interests through individual research projects
- At Brighton you will develop a strong professional identity as an independent practitioner. Your course tutors are experienced professional photographers and photographic researchers working across a range of cutting-edge practice.
- Many of our students have enjoyed critical success for their photography. In recent years photography students have been awarded first place and runners-up in many of the most prestigious photography awards including the Jerwood Photography Prize, the Association of Photographers Photography Student of the Year Award, and the Guardian Newspaper Photography Student of the Year Award.
- The practice and analysis of photography on the MA Photography course at Brighton aims to engender a culture fully committed to testing the boundaries of the medium and pushing at the edges of the discipline so as to develop a conception of what photography is and how it might be used and interpreted in the future.

PhD in fine art practices, photography and visual communication
At Brighton University
Brighton has a culture of research excellence in the practice arts. The community has been developed and fostered through innovative practice such as the founding role its academics have played in the foundation of screendance as a discipline, the evolution of inclusive arts practice, experiments in photography, illustration and digital innovation among a wealth of work across fine art practices both traditional and contemporary.
Our research students join the rapidly developing and diversifying range of interests within the field of arts practices at Brighton, ‘practices’ which cover image and object making, the textual and writerly, the performative and time-based, and sound/aural work.
We welcome applications for MPhil/PhD study in fine art and arts practices either as a practice-led study or one which brings elements of practice into a more traditional thesis submission. Of special interest are:
- The politics of representation, curatorship and exhibition making
- Arts practices and science
- Arts practices in health and social inclusion
- Arts practices in memory, narrative, histories, heritage and language
- Arts Practices and meaning through media and lens-based investigation
- Arts Practices in mediated performance, visions and the role of the bod
